Jonstar are a SolarEdge Expert Installer. Some of the benefits of a SolarEdge Optimised System are:

SolarEdge systems generate more electricity than standard systems over time by reducing shading effects and the degradation mismatch between panels over time.  Jonstar will provide a forecast for your own system to demonstrate what we would expect to be the difference through using the SolarEdge 3D software to model your premises. The system also provides added safety features, panel level monitoring showing generation data assisting maintenance and a twelve year inverter warranty, seven years longer than most other 3 phase inverters. The system is classed as a SafeDC system. A standard string inverter set up cannot shut down the array so will typically have live cabling up to 750V at any point during daylight. The optimisers on the roof allow the SolarEdge system to shutdown the panel output to 1 volt per optimiser, making each string circa 20 Volts, this helps meet the RC62 fire service guidelines on installing SolarPV, making it the safest and most productive system on the market.

Our range of support to your business

  • Jonstar Sustainable Technologies
As part of the Jonstar commitment to sustainability we have now set up a dedicated installation and consultancy division. This enables us to complete survey work and recommendations on energy efficiency within your business or home as well as manage the delivery of any measures you would like to go ahead with.
  • Consultancy
We provide full surveys and assist with recommendations to how you can save money and reduce your carbon footprint through renewable energy solutions like Solar PV, heating solutions, lighting solutions and energy management. M&E assistance when projects require specialist installation advice and quotations. We have a keen eye for detail and assure you that our quotes will carefully consider all aspects of specifications provided to enable us to deliver a compliant installation within budget and adhering to stringent health and safety expected on site.
  • Servicing and Maintenance
Many of the companies that have installed Solar PV over the years are no longer around, which means that often systems in need of maintenance and remedial work get overlooked. These systems will be either underperforming or not working at all.  JST offer a one-off visit to assess any issues with your Solar PV system and if required provide a comprehensive maintenance package for our clients. We can also complete upgrades and inverter replacements including contacting the manufacturers on your behalf to check warranties. Our initial service visit will provide you with a report to enable you to see what is needed to be done to get your system up and running again and include any recommendations to improve performance.
  • Finance
    1. Payment up front so you own the system outright. For businesses, the capital outlay can be offset against your corporation tax.
    2. Finance packages including leasing finance enabling a cash positive solution from year one in many cases. Again, for businesses lease payments can be offset against corporation tax.
    3. For Solar PV installations over 50kW there is also the option of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) where there are again no upfront costs and the electricity that the system generates is sold back to you at a reduced rate.
    4. For large scale multi measure solutions we can offer Energy Performance Contracts where an amount of the savings can be guaranteed, and the system is then owned at the end of the contract.

Renewable Energy Solutions:

We can help with a number of options

  • Solar PV
Solar PV is a great way to reduce the amount of electricity that you need to buy from the grid, reduce your energy costs, and demonstrate your sustainability objectives. It is quick and easy technology to install and comes with a 25-year performance guarantee. By investing in a Solar PV system you are in effect buying a large amount of electricity upfront and therefore using rather than exporting it is key to the proposal we put forward. We will undertake a careful analysis of the building’s energy consumption prior to any proposal being made to ensure the benefits that we show you are realistic. We will also look at your current operations, needs and plans to identify opportunities for existing or new technologies that may compliment and optimise your new PV system. As a SolarEdge advanced installer we can provide reassurance that you are getting the best system at the best price.
  • Combined Heat & Power (CHP)
Combined heat and power is a rapidly developing technology seeking to make use of the wasted heat generated by electrical or mechanical power. Through the simultaneous generation of heat and power, businesses have the potential to save around 20% of their energy costs, whilst reducing carbon emissions by up to 30%. This is most efficient where there is a high constant demand for heat, for example in hotels and places with swimming pools.
  • Air & Ground Source Heat Pumps
Using similar methodology to your freezer, but in reverse! Despite the UK climate being unpredictable heat is generated which can produce hot water and keep your people warm. Government grants and other funding are available to support with renewable heat solutions. Although electricity is used to power heat pumps, energy is renewable because for every unit of electricity used to power the heat pump, it will generate 3-4 units on average. We can also help to find you a cost-effective green supplier to power your heat pump and help you become as green and sustainable as possible.

  • Solar Thermal
Solar water heating (known as solar thermal) systems capture the free heat from the sun and use it to heat up water for use in the home. It is a simple process, panels on your roof absorb heat from the sun – they are known as the collector. The liquid in the panels heats up, this hot liquid is then pumped through a heat exchanger to heat the water the water in the cylinder.

Ways to save your business money, and become more sustainable

  • LED Lighting
LED lighting has been quickly developed over the last 10 years and has moved rapidly from a very expensive item to be the preferred option today. Changing lights can save up to 90% on certain fittings giving a considerable energy reduction and financial benefits. Improved lighting will be designed to meet the current standards, improve the environment for employees, and improve the look of the premises.
  • EV Charging
With a rapidly growing uptake in electric vehicles, coupled with huge tax saving opportunities for businesses, installing your own charging points is increasingly viable. We can support with a range of options, in some cases electric charging points can be added with no upfront costs. We can enable metering, software and reporting solutions to support your business to get the most from EV charging.
  • Voltage Optimisation
The UK has an average incoming voltage of 242V, this is despite most electrical equipment is built to run on 230V. This is known as running hot. Equipment that is run at 242V rather than the recommended 230V will have a shorter life span. Some equipment will cost more to run. As a result, we can complete a comprehensive survey to establish how a VO could benefit your business. Where it is suitable, savings are typically 10% on your electrical consumption.

  • Far Infrared Heating
Far Infrared is electric heating with a difference. The heaters emit electromagnetic waves in the same way the sun does and they heat the objects in a room as soon as they start up as opposed to conventional heating that aims to heat the air in a room first. In many homes and commercial premises heating the air is not the easiest thing to do, so far infrared is ideal when you have a hard to heat area to complement or replace an existing heating system. If the proposed installation is replacing the current electrical heating, then typically a 2kW heater can be replaced with a 0.7 to 1kW Far Infrared heater. This makes a considerable reduction in consumption and therefore a large financial saving against conventional electrical
  • Additional options for energy efficiency
    Insulation
Approximately 30% of heat is lost, much of this may be unnecessary and we can support with reviewing your options
    Building Management
Simple smart technology for small businesses to building management and monitoring systems for large businesses
    Boiler Efficiency
From smart controls and optimisation to bespoke insulated valve fittings, we can support with analysis and recommend suitable options
    Energy Storage
By carefully assessing a building we can look at whether electric or thermal energy storage is appropriate and commercially viable.
    Reporting
Measure and view exactly how and when you are using energy, water and carbon. Identify opportunities for savings and measure the impact of your energy efficiency plans
