The story behind Jonstar
Jonstar Energy Brokers Ltd was founded by Jonathan Harris in 2013.
This experience was an eye opener in terms of the opportunities in the business energy market. Jonathan could see that UK businesses were often facing misleading sales practices and shocking customer service. Jonathan was convinced he could forge his own business in this market and with the help of a small loan from his parents Jonstar Energy Brokers was born.
Building trusted relationships with his clients and supporting them with their energy suppliers billing and services issues that were common place, customers started recommending him to other businesses and Jonstar continued to grow and expand.
Three office moves later we are proud to retain the vast majority of clients and even more through recommendations from existing clients.
We now possess a strong dynamic team which is bigger and possess a wealth of experience to serve even larger corporate entities. Yet, also small enough to care and provide a personal service with a powerful and diverse network of suppliers partners and technicians nationwide.

Jonathan Harris
Managing Director
Jonathan founded the business and continues to play a hands-on role supporting the team, also continuing to serve a number of clients, with whom he maintains an excellent relationship with from the early days.
Jonathan is a lifelong Leicester City FC fan and season ticket holder, a family man who invests in his team and our clients. Jonstar has invested heavily in bespoke software systems that provide huge opportunities to exceed our clients’ expectations, future proof Jonstar and our clients’ energy strategies.
Phil Harding
Director of Jonstar Sustainable Technologies
Phil has worked in the energy efficiency arena since 2013 when he made a move to a domestic Solar PV installer looking to expand their business. This was during the time of relatively good feed in tariffs and tumbling solar panel prices. Although spending a relatively short time, two years, working in the domestic market while Phil was running the operations they were installing around 100 solar pv systems a month, as well as other measures like LED lighting, heating controls and biomass boilers.
The following five years was spent setting up and running a commercial solar installation company. Over the 5 years Phil ran many solar pv projects of which 4 won awards in the Energy Efficiency Awards, including over 200kW installed in 2019 on Airfield Business Park in Market Harborough.
At Jonstar Phil has brought a wealth of experience to enable us from the start to run the company under three ISO standards, 9001, 14001 and 45001, become a CHAS Premium Plus company and AVETTA accredited on the SSIP schemes, manage our MCS accreditation for installation of Solar PV and qualifying for manufacturer approval for the installation of SolarEdge Solar Systems and Herschel Far Infrared heating products.

I have a vast wealth of sales experience and have worked in a multitude of different sales environments giving me the skill set, passion and drive to take Jonstar on to the next big chapter. We at Jonstar pride ourselves on being the best and this reflects in the service & commitment levels we deliver to our customers. We take a keen interest in the energy markets and adapt energy contracts along with evolving products to sustain continuous growth and business security for our clients across various sectors. We are a very family orientated company and although we work hard the work life balance is a key part of the business. I myself have two loving children and a fantastic wife who supports me wholeheartedly allowing me to be able to grow this company with the help of a brilliant team around me.
Ben Tyrrell

Jonstar Sustainable Technologies
Ben has a military background after serving in the British Army for 6 years from the age of 17. Upon his resettlement from the forces, he was keen to get involved with project management combining his skill set to help the environment and deliver renewable energy installations.
Over the past 4 years, Ben has managed a large number of Solar PV, Air Source Heat Pump, and other sustainable technology projects, from survey and design stage to project delivery, execution, and aftercare for a variety of different clients in the public and private sectors.
Ben consistently goes above and beyond for our clients and has a built a number of strong relationships throughout the UK, also strengthening our supply chain.
With a keen eye for detail Ben is always looking at different approaches to assist you in finding energy and cost saving technologies.
Work/life balance is a crucial part of Jonstar and with the great team here and family at home around him, Ben is continuing to assist Jonstar to expand to the next level.
